Thanks Kraft! (bastards.)

Well, cookies are serious no more. In fact, you simply can't get them in the states. Sorry Sherry. Here is the contents of the email I received from Kraft regarding Peek Freens.

Hi Gerard,

Thank you for visiting http://www.kraftfoods.com/.

I'm glad to hear about your interest in our products.

I'm sorry to let you know that as of November 2004 all flavors of Peak Freans cookies will no longer be available in the United States.

I agree with you that this was a great product, but the situation is that there simply weren't enough consumers buying the product to support our continuing to produce it.

I'd like to let you know that I'll make sure our marketing team hears about your comments and interest in our products.

If you haven't done so already, please add our site to your favorites and visit us again soon!

Bogus if you ask me. But then again, nothing any of us can do about it.

Gerard is already a good Dad

Gerard has been really sensitive to how apricot and I feel. He rubs my feet and gets me cookies and ice cream. He is only complaining slightly about eating pasta all the time and is desperate for rice. He has been really helping me with the chores and watching funny movies with me every week. This weekend he is off to Miami without me and apricot and I will boo hoo the whole time. We will be hanging out with my sister Dani and going off to see Holiday the new movie. I hope it is good as James Bond. That new 007 is a hottie! We did all our holiday shopping in Florida and designed our own cards this year. So mailing was a snap. We even got a chance to bake our apple pies. So now all that's left is baking cookies (!!) and wrapping gifts. It has been a Godsend to have a few days off of overtime make-up so I can keep on top of everything. Today will be up to 60 degrees so we'll be having springtime in December for the weekend. I'm hoping to go on another long walk. I've already gained 10 lbs since August and now can not close my pants! It's a little too early for maternity wear so I'm not quite sure what to do. 11 weeks down 29 to go!

Night of the Peek Freen or First Nighttime Craving Run

This is the story of the first night time run to get something Sherry happened to be craving. (Hopefully this does not become a regular occurrence.) Two days ago (Tuesday night) after a nice meal, Sherry and I were sitting n the studio watching the AMC's night offering. They have been having back to back Christmas specials on every evening leading up to the 25th. So Sherry turns to me during a commercial and asks for cookies. If you know my wife, she is not a cookie person. She has always been into chips, popcorn, Smartfood, salted cashews, and the like. But cakes and baked goods? Never.

Then she drops the kicker. She doesn't want just any cookie... she wants Peek Freens! wow, this is serious! (Pun intended.) And not just any Peek Freens but the Traditional Fruit Cremes. You know, the butter cookie sandwiches with creme in the middle and jelly on top. You don't know? Neither did I.

So off I go into the night hitting all the supermarkets and other local snack sites to find my beloveds craving. After 4 stores I gave up, gave in and bought Pepperidge Farm Oatmeal cookies as a substitute along with Veronas (Pepperidge Farms version, or close enough, to the Fruit Cremes.) Well, the Veronas were a bomb. Not even near the mark. But the Oatmeal was sufficient. staved off me running back out into the night in a hopeless search for the right cookie for my dearest mother-to-be.

First notes

Okay, so we are about 11 weeks behind on posting here so I will start by making a couple of points that must be noted.

- Sherry has been queasy, nauseous, feeling sick, etc. for the better part of the first trimester. She has been a complete trooper but to say that she has been feeling great is not possible. Over Thanksgiving was probably the pinnacle of this period which hopefully means that we are almost out of the woods and she will be feeling more herself in regards to tummy rumbles during the second trimester. If it doesn't subside, I think I will buy stock in Cheez-its, her staple snack/stomach settler during this run of tummy issues. That and diet ginger ale, which I buy by the multiple cases now.

- Everyone has heard of the stories of pregnant women and their strange cravings. My wife has a had a few already. The not so strange one has been her need for pasta, especially Annie's Mac & Cheese. Really any pasta will do. For example (and this is on the strange side for Miss Tofu Girl) she HAD to buy a couple of cans of Spaghetti-o's during our last food shopping venture. That along with Pineapple she wanted to buy. Little did I know she would have that for lunch. Yes, you guessed it... Spaghetti-o's and pineapple, YUM!

- Sherry is not a dairy product fan as most of them make her sick. Not so much the yogurt products but the milk based stuff. Well... that is changing a bit since she has been eating Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream every other evening. I don't think you will ever catch Sherry chugging 2% out of the container while standing in the kitchen with the fridge door still open like I do. However I think Breyer's and Ben & Jerry's will be getting some increased revenue from this new freezer must have.

I am sure more tid-bits will follow as I remember them and they occur. One last thing to note. My popcorn junky of a wife hasn't had any since figuring out she was pregos. I wonder what else will follow.
